Hi! Welcome to the Cinema Sisters blog. We’re Alex and Emily, two cinema-loving sisters inviting you to share in our movie musings, filmic fancies and cerebrations on the silver-screen.
We’ve been watching films together for nearly three decades and are never short of opinions on the subject. Taking different approaches to what makes a film Good, Bad or downright Ugly, we share thoughts that the other might have missed: the well-written script and character development, or the genius bit of set-design that adds a meta-textual layer to a scene. Where opinions diverge, a persuasive argument might sway one side around – although Emily has yet to convince Alex of any redeeming qualities in Interstellar.
We don’t discriminate when it comes to genre, and while the majority of our references are English-language, we don’t shy away from a subtitle when called for. From Animation to Zombie Parody, Annihilation to Zazie dans le Metro andΒ Arthur Christmas to Zero Dark Thirty, we seek out the classics and line up for the latest releases, hopefully stumbling across some hidden gems on the way.
We debate the best format for viewing the different films, best seat position, best choice of popcorn, even the best films to accompany a film (we’re no stranger to the double- or triple-bill).
Whether we agree, or simply agree to differ, one thing is certain: we love discussing movies as much as we love watching them and look forward to sharing our thoughts with you!

Maybe you should include a feature which tracks how many movies you have, either jointly or individually, watched.
